A foreign language is considered as the key to growth and understanding the globally diverse world. DPS, GBN students study foreign languages to gain a better understanding of varied cultures and unfamiliar customs of the world.
Cultural Exchange Programmes not only propel students to understand the diversity of the country, but also make them learn how to co-exist and feel compassion for different communities around.
16 students and 2 mentors from Deutsche International School Dubai (DISD) visited DPS GBN under a student exchange programme from March 10- March 19, 2023. It was a unique opportunity for them to observe Indian culture closely as these sixteen students were placed with Indian host families.
Their excursions to Jaipur, Agra and Delhi exposed the German students to Indian culture and history. The visit to Amer Fort and the Taj Mahal left an indelible mark on the memories of their visit to our country. The colourful attires and lip smacking delicacies added to the attractions.
The trip to Jaipur was successful in familiarising the German students with the rich, technicolour culture of India and was also a source of unbridled felicity.
Effectively capturing the vivacious essence of Rajasthani culture, Chokhi Dhani provided a unique experience to the visitors. Hundreds of candles illuminate the scene with their impalpable luminescence and the various traditional activities like puppet-shows, folk dances etc make it a worthwhile experience.
The German Group actively participated in various sports activities wherein students from both the countries played together to demonstrate the spirit of “Brotherhood”. The German Students and teachers also practiced “Meditation” & attended Canvas Art Session.
They also spent family time with their hosts thereby living the culture by interacting, having meals together and enjoying time together.
The Exchange Programme marked the beginning of a long-lasting friendship across continents.
This carefully planned programme is an amalgamation of an educational experience with fun and entertainment. Long lasting friendships are formed between the student partners each year, giving a fresh impetus to the school’s endeavour to expand its exchange base and give the students’ an opportunity to explore new parts of the world.
